Defending Democracy While Black is Colonel Aaron B Floyd’s memoir that includes a history lesson highlighting the patriotism, courage, and sacrifices of the legions of Black American patriots who have defended America’s Democracy during the entirety of our nation’s existence, beginning on March 5th , 1770, when Crispus Attucks, an escaped slave, became the First American to die in defense of our fledgling democracy when he was shot and killed while confronting British soldiers in Boston, Massachusetts and continues to the present , when African American Combat Engineers , Sergeants William Rivers, Kennedy Sanders, and Breonna Moffett were killed by terrorists on 28 January , 2024, while Defending Democracy overseas.
